FREE I SAW YOU is Bruised Orange Theater Company’s original creation, using real personal ads from the Chicago area as its script. Well apparently I have to go to this on Friday.   Yeah guys, I don’t like to over do it with the “Come to my show, come to my show, come to my show” type of thing (you can follow the BOTC tumblr for that). Being in the storefront theater community, I know how annoying that can be. Trust me, gurrrlllll, I know…. For those of you that don’t know the deal, this is a show that a couple friends of mine and I came up with a bit over five years ago. We take the personal ads, Missed Connections (The I SAW YOUs!), the Seekings and the X Matches and perform them straight from the script. Three performers do about 15 pieces each, with different characterizations, etc. Our weekly show features about 85-90 percent brand new material, and with different cast pairings, the show is completely different each week. I pick all the material, which means I read a LOT of ads. This Friday’s show is going to be kind of special; it will be five years to the day that we first performed it. There will be a huge cast, all nine ISY ensemble members, instead of the three I mentioned above. And a super extended X-Match section, so hold onto your butts. If you can’t make it Friday, we do it every Wednesday (HEY, THAT’S TONIGHT) at Town Hall Pub. What I am most proud of about this show is that it is CONSTANTLY hilarious every night. Meaning, if you can’t make it Friday, or tonight, please check it out some other Wednesday. Hey, this is me talking about it, EVEN MORE! Mark is funny, you should come to his show!
